Venice Design Week will propose this year , in collaboration with ICI Venice – International Cultural Institute and the Association Aphrodite Venice , an exhibition dedicated to the project ” ALTROPONTE “ realized by the Laboratory LRFAD ( Philosophical Research Laboratory / Anthropological on Design ) .

The Laboratory LRFAD is conceived and directed by Prof. Eugenio Fontana , designer and architect , founder of ART and THINGS studio and lecturer at the Italian School of Design ( SID ) of Padua.

Started on 22 June, the Laboratory LRFAD saw the participation of five leavers in the third year of the Italian School of Design ( Nicole Sweet, Manuel Frasson , Patrizia Lavarda , Alex Pontin and Alberigo Purgato ) and it hits four creative themes that have analyzed in depth the relationship between humans and the objects that surround him , through the philosophical thought , comparison , criticism and retro- design.

Experimentation is the key word : track hypothesis of radical rethinking of the design of our everyday objects and questioning well on their way and needs.

The ” ALTROPONTE “ project addresses the issue of redesigning the walkways , applied to certain Venetian bridges , and initially intended for the Venice Marathon. It uses the concept of crossing as a symbolic vehicle to represent a series of historical and social achievements of humanity : from workers’ rights to universal suffrage , from gender equality to children’s rights , from animal rights to the conquest of digital communication and etc.

Ten recounted themes with an original approach to accompany citizens and visitors along the route that from San Basilio Terminal reaches the Biennale Gardens.

The walkways have been redesigned according to the design logic of hardware – software relationship. It is in fact provided a support structure designed according to the highest existing aesthetics and for a quick and reversible installation.

Above this structure , it is the unfolding narrative component that , thanks to extremely original materials and installations , offers the opportunity to meet with ten great achievements of Western civilization. Each catwalk was then redesigned with the aim of bringing , as well as a functional value , also a cultural, symbolic and narrative value.

The exhibition ” ALTROPONTE “ will have as a location  the Coffee Warehouse , located in Campo San Simeon Grando , Rio Marin , and will be open to the public during the Venice Design Week , October 1 to 9 .
