Andreia Gabriela Popescu

VDW2019

Bucharest, Romania

Andreia Gabriela PopescuShe was born in Bucharest. She is designer and manufacturer of contemporary jewelry since 2010. She is also teacher of contemporary jewelry. She always liked to create! At first her interest in jewelry came as an addition to her palette of concerns, being constantly drawn to art and creation, but has evolved into a career change. She creates contemporary jewelry unique and limited series, and also costume products. Made from gold, silver, gems, and semiprecious natural stones next to unconventional materials, her collections are strongly linked to the inspiration of the moment and comes from everywhere around her: forms, sensations, feelings. Her jewellery always starts from a concept. She likes to build on her jewelry the story behind them. Contemporary jewelry means for her applied art! She creates all kinds of jewelry for men and women, but most of all she loves to create rings. Rings represent for her a means of communication and of highlighting the important matters. A special ring makes you feel good, but it can also be the business card of your personality. Her jewelry stands out through daring volumes and new finishes of the surfaces.

Solve et Coagula

In 2021 she participated  in the Jewelry Selection contest DAZZLE ME! with a brooch and two rings that represent the collection Solve et Coagula.
In ancient times, alchemy was the transformation of substances into gold and under the action of a dissolving agent, the existing matter was dissolved in order to be re-formed or re-organized in a new product. What we are witnessing or even participating in now resembles an alchemy at a social level. The fear of death is planted in the human mind, in the subconscious of us all and it has the role of a dissolving agent in the transformation process. The dissolution of existing matter is the gradual transition of people from one state to another, until separation, destabilization and even disintegration. This is the re-formation or coagulation in a new type of order, the final state in which the new product appears.
The name Solve et Coagula sums up the gradual passage of people from one mood to another as they re-form (coagulate) into a new being. The colors are the representation of the different emotions that come together and are transformed within the circular shape of the jewel.

For Venice Design Week 2019 was selected by Orafa ABC to offer her the possibility of a showcase and to sell its jewels in Italy. In the headquarters of Orafa ABC you will meet the goldsmith Andrea D’Agostino and the jewels of Andreia Gabriela Popescu exclusively for October and November.
