The selection is open to anyone engaged in designing or working with precious metals, gemstones and other materials, also recycled or poor materials. The award’s focus is on contemporary design inspired by ancient design. It is an ideal platform to increase awareness of your brand and get recognition in Italy.
The objects have to be insipired by archeological findings, because of this the designers are invited to choose a work of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Adria with which it can relate.
3) TIME LIMIT
Works must have been completed within the 24 months preceding the closing dates for entries.
4) CLOSING DATES
All entries must be delivered by mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
When submitting to the selection keep in mind that your submission will be evaluated primarily on visual appeal, choice of material and craftsmanship. The best practice is to send an editorial main image on white or black background where the product is clearly visible.
Entries cannot be sent by post in the first round. Entries arriving after 25th of June 2019 at 2.00pm CET may not be judged. The jury will select the works that has to be delivered to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Adria
Entrants are responsible for the delivery of their work to (and back) the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Adria.
5) AWARDING CRITERIA and JUDGING PROCESS
Your final design must be usable. The piece must be your original design.
The best designs are selected according to form, functional and emotional aspects; the objects are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, ergonomics and quality of workmanship.
If you have already entered your piece in another competition, you may also enter in the selection. You will need to let us know if the piece won in another competition.
Judges do their pre-selection and then they reach decisions in consultation with each other. The aims and objectives of the judges are to decide whether an entry is of a high enough standard in craftsmanship and/or design to merit to be exhibited in Venice Design Week. In the event of Judges unable to agree on a unanimous decision, a majority vote will be accepted.
The members of the jury will be the representatives of Museo Archeologico, dell’Associazione Arte e Design Venezia, and experts in design.
6) ENTRY PROCEDURE
All completed entries will receive a confirmation email, in three weeks. The deadlines specified are final and there are no extensions. Multiple entries are possible adding 50% of the subscription fee for each object presented after the first one.
Subscription fee: € 60 designers and free for students.

The exhibition at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Adria is covered by an insurance for the maximum value of € 1000 for piece. Entrants selected has to insurance there works for the delivery.
Judges will select the designers to exhibit in the exhibition INSTRUMENTADESIGN between ancient and contemporary.
The judges can decide to give a prize besides the participation in the exhibition.
9) SCHEDULE and DEADLINES
25th June 2019: deadline for the sending to email@example.com of a digital file of your piece, which can be in the form of a drawing, rendering or photograph (a photo of the neutral object on a neutral background and, in case of accessories, a photo of the worn accessory; one picture of the ancient object that inspired you, a text to explain the relation to the theme) finally the subscription fee or document if you are a student.
1st – 30th July 2019: jury meeting. In the following days the designers will be notified.
later we will program the exhibition: the selected designers have to send/deliver their work, at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Adria.
Judges may not give awards if they consider the quality of the entries to be of insufficient merit.
The exhibition will be open to the public for one month in 2019 or 2020 (with possibility of extension).
The winning works will be exhibited at the discretion of the judges.
12) COLLECTION OF ENTRIES
All entries must be collected from Venice Design Week after the exhibition.
Optional: postal deliveries are recorded separately and Items valued under € 1,000 will be charged € 140 for postage, packing and insurance, payable, in advance, by bank transfer to: Venice Design Week or selected partner. For items above this, additional costs of postage, packing and insurance will be added.
Any entries not collected after the preview dates onwards will incur a charge of € 100 per item per month. Entries not collected within two months following the above date can be disposed of at the discretion of the Venice Design Week.
THE VENICE DESIGN WEEK IS THE ARBITER OF THESE RULES AND THEIR INTERPRETATION IS FINAL.
13) CEREMONY and MEETING WITH DESIGNERS
in summer time: vernissage and ceremony,
during Venice Design Week meeting with the designers at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Adria.
The opening is by invitation only.
The exhibition will be promoted in local and national press, in online portals, in the Venice Design Week social networks. If you want to create personalized postcards or if you are interested in the VDW designer index, you can request for advertising options.
