1) ELIGIBILITY
The Jewelry Venice Design Week Selection 2019 is open to anyone engaged in designing or working with precious metals, gemstones and other materials, also recycled or scrap materials. The award’s focus is on contemporary jewelry and it’s an ideal platform to increase awareness of your brand and get recognition in Italy.
2) THEME
Designers are invited to reflect on the life that starts again, a second life, a second opportunity, relations between persons are underline by a jewellery, but somebody can work with the rebirth of the materials in order to recycling and sustainability…
3) TIME LIMIT
Works must have been completed within the 24 months preceding the closing dates for entries.
4) CLOSING DATES
All entries must be delivered by mail jewelry@venicedesignweek.it
When submitting to the Venice Jewelry VDW Design Selection 2019 keep in mind that your submission will be evaluated primarily on visual appeal, choice of material and craftsmanship. The best practice is to send an editorial main image on white or black background where the product is clearly visible.
Entries cannot be sent by post in the first round. Entries arriving after 28th of May cut off date may not be judged. The jury will pre-select around 12 works that have to be delivered to the organization for the second and final round of judging.
Entrants are responsible for the delivery of their work to (and back) the chosen location.
5) AWARDING CRITERIA AND JUDGING PROCESS
Your final design must be wearable jewelry. The piece must be your original design.
The best designs are selected according to form, functional and emotional aspects; the wearable jewelry are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, ergonomics and quality of workmanship. Both luxury and daily-usage designs can be submitted.
If you have already entered your piece in another competition, you may also enter it in the Jewelry VDW Design Selection. You will need to let us know by the date of the first round of judging if the piece won in another competition.
Judges do their pre-selection and then they reach decisions in consultation with each other. The aims and objectives of the judges are to decide whether an entry is of a high enough standard in craftsmanship and/or design to merit to be exhibited in Venice Design Week. In the event of Judges unable to agree on a unanimous decision, a majority vote will be accepted.
6) ENTRY PROCEDURE
All completed entries will receive a confirmation email, in three weeks. The deadlines specified are final and there are no extensions. Multiple entries are possible by adding 50% of the subscription fee for each object presented after the first entry.
Subscription fee: € 30 designers and € 10 students. Subscription fee for AGC members: € 25.

7) INSURANCE
The exhibition (12 – 20 October) is covered by an assurance for the maximum value of € 1000 for piece. Entrants selected has to insurance there works for the delivery.
8) AWARDS
Judges will select around 12 designs to exhibit in the Jewelry VDW Selection or how many they decide to exhibit.
One of the projects will be selected also for the exhibition 2020 in National Museums.
Since 2017 we have special awards offered by Gallery Oh My Blue Venezia, OONA Berlin, Bini Australia.
Since 2019 Autor – Bucharest, 16mestriquadri – Udine and Creativity – Torino offer special awards.
The Awards give to the designers the possibility to exhibit in different towns and media promotion.
9) SCHEDULE
May 28, 2019: A digital file of your piece, which can be in the form of a drawing, rendering or photograph.
June 15, 2019: First round of judging is held.
June 22, 2019: The finalists are notified and have to send there objects to the organization by 2 July.
July 4-20, 2019: Final round of judging is held to choose the 12 selected.
August 1st, 2019: The 12 finalists are notified.
October 13th, 2019: Ceremony and meeting with designers by invitation only.
October during VDW, 2019: guided visit at 5 pm some designers will present there works to the public.
After 15th of November 2019: All finalist and winning pieces will be returned to designers.
10) SELECTION
Judges may not give awards if they consider the quality of the entries to be of insufficient merit.
11) EXHIBITION
Exhibition will open to the public Saturday 12th October to Sunday 20th October 2019, 2pm to 7pm during Venice Design Week.
Invitation to the cerimony is limited to 70 people, due to limited places priority will be given to the winners and their guests. The winning works will be exhibited at the discretion of the Judges and the Venice Design Week organizers.
12) COLLECTION OF ENTRIES
All entries must be recived by Venice Design Week by the 28th of May 12:00 pm.
The entries chosen for the exhibition will be available for collection starting on the 28th of October. Enteries can be picked up inperson or by courier arranged by the designer. Optional shipment can be exceptionally arranged by recorded postal delivery for a charge of €140 with an maximum insured value of under € 1,000. The packaging and shipment fee is payable in advance by bank transfer to: Venice Design Week or the selected partner. For items above this value, additional postage, packing and insurance charges will be incured.
Any entries not collected after the 20th November 2019 will incur a charge of € 100 per item per month for storage. Entries not collected within two months following the above date will be disposed of at the discretion of the Venice Design Week.
THE VENICE DESIGN WEEK IS THE ARBITER OF THESE RULES AND THEIR INTERPRETATION IS FINAL.
13) CEREMONY and MEETING WITH DESIGNERS
During Venice Design Week, Venice Italy. Attendance at the exhibition opening is strictly by invitation only.
A guided visit to the exhibition is open to the public in date to be defined.
14) REGISTRATION

The photo of the jewel, the description of the project and the copy of the bank transfer will be sent via email to jewelry@venicedesignweek.it
