D’Arc, is a brand and an associate studio of architects founded by the architects Rosa Topputo and Alessio Tommasetti. Since the beginning the studio has focused on a number of fields such as architecture, interior design and product design, absorbing from the exterior all the stimuli going from the arts to the sciences, transforming them to what can turn to be an essential part for the project.
The studio is in Rome, the Eternal city, and here is from where the research on Aesthetics and Functionality begins, following the path of the best Italian design with the curiosity to always have something new. So many different cultures entered the studio workflow with the aim of reaching Ideal Beauty. They worked in USA, Brazil, Europe collaborating with international studios and brands such as Coca Cola, Marlboro, Toyota.
Their workflow is a continuous digital flux, starting from sketches becoming a detailed project that can be checked with rapid prototyping, in particular with 3D printing, as they did with CAMBIAMI eyewear and MYHand, the advanced bionic prosthetic hand and 3D printing jewelry collection SONATA BAROCCA.
D’Arc Studio is a “Factory” which is not restricted to one single discipline, but opens itself up to the influences of Architecture, Design, Fashion, Graphics, Animation, Video and Comics absorbing from them what can turn to be an essential piece of the project: each side of the polyhedron comes from the different experience of each member of the Studio, both employees and interns, who is sometime in accord or run into a dynamic collision, but eventually able together to create a complete and elaborate whole. Strives to incorporate in the process all aspects relating to sustainability.

Egg-cup “Armonia” (2020), selected for INSTRUMENTADESIGN2020
The egg-cup proposed by D’ARC is inspired by the Acrobata, a sculpture conserved at MArTA, Taranto National Museum of Archaeology. “Armonia” synthesize perfectly past and present: the acrobat is the past, the perforated and modern egg-cup is a symbol of our time. The holes can also work as a smart spoon-holder.
The series was realized with the support of a 3-D printer (SLS), processing data produced by softwares such as Scupltris, Rhinoceros and Grasshopper.
