ART LIGHT COLOR 2020 – SELECTED BY THE JURY
Daryl Pong’s “Nebula” has been selected by the jury for the exhibition dedicated to the second edition of the international contest Art Light Color. Inspired by how the play of light can be magical, Nebula is an enchanting light created by the combination of dichroic paper and light. It can open a magical world of your imagination, surprising you with lucid dreams.
The author is a diver so it’s clear how the sea can be a source of inspiration for him. “What I adore most about being underwater is the sense of serenity accompanied by the alluring caustics caused by the play of light in water”, he says. “I wanted to recreate this sense of wonder as I designed Nebula”. Nebula is not the average mood-lights lamp. It has an effect that almost seems organic, alive, independent but stills gives you a sense of wonder and calmness.
Inspired by how alluring caustics caused by the play of light can be magical, Nebula comes alive as time passes with her unique ever-changing light streaks.
The lamp is made by a 3D printed front and a black plate, a color changing led which can be controlled with a remote, dichroic paper and a clock mechanism running continuously.
“Open a magical world of your imagination full of lucid dreams and dive into another galaxy with the unhurriedness and rhythm of Nebula’s light.”
