The Luce Colore Art Call is promoted by Venice Design Week and it is organized by the Cultural Association Arte e Design a Venezia in collaboration with “Gioielli Nascosti di Venezia – Fondazione Venezia Servizi”.
Art. 1 Call theme
This Venice Design Week call is aimed at the design of lighting bodies and lighting systems, a section of the contest is dedicated to the integration into the environment through home automation systems.
The selected projects and the lighting prototypes will be exhibited and promoted during the next edition of the Venice Design Week, which will be held in October 2018. We imagine that the designers are inspired by the value of light, which is particular in Venice, and by the art which characterizes this city for design.
Art. 2 Jury
The Jury consists of five members, which have the right to vote.
Professor of the Iuav University in Venice
Director of the Museum which holds the exhibition
Director or Project Manager of the partner company
Coordinator, without the right to vote:
a representative of the Venice Design Week
The decision of the jury are taken by majority. The jury president will be chosen by the jury members.
Art.3 Call Fiduciary
The Call Fiduciary is the cultural association Arte e Design a Venezia that mediates between the call promoter, the Jury and the call participants.

Art. 4 Awards
The exhibition will be held from 6th to 14th October 2018 in Venice.
The display of the selected projects and prototypes can be extended in terms of time in some exhibitions of the Venice Design Week.
Art. 5 Admission Requirements
The call is open to:
a) Professionals (P)
Italian and/or foreign creators like independent and/or employed designers, architects or engineers. Those professionals who are employees should submit an enterprise authorization.
b) Students (S)
Students of Design, Architecture and Engineering schools.
Team participations are allowed for both Professionals and Students. In case of team participation, the team nominates a leader and he/she will be in charge of keeping the relationship with the Venice Design Week organization.
Participation in the call is forbidden for Jury members, for their family, for Venice Design Week promoters and for the professional studios of the Jury members.

Art. 6 Projects
Submission is open for both published and unpublished projects.
In case of published projects, the applicants have to mention the awards they have been presented to and their results, if they are already on the market and/or when they are expected to be released.
Art. 7 Projects Requirements
Applicants must send n.2 A3 format tables (42cm base x 29,7 cm high) in high resolution .pdf (printing quality 300dpi). Drawings must be in scale and show an overview and a detailed view at least (we suggest to use 1st table to express the innovation with photo and rendering, 2nd table for the technical drawing).
Applicants must send also a short project report, which describes its motivations and characteristics, the materials, the market placement and any other relevant information. This description must be submitted in A4 format (allowed formats: .doc and .pdf) and must not exceed 2 pages.
Applicants can illustrate their projects using other drawings or images, but they should be in the mentioned tables or in the description. It is possible to add a link to a Youtube or Vimeo video of the product; videos must have a maximum length of 30 seconds.
On all tables and descriptions the applicants must write their (group) name or logo. Depending on their category, the applicants must report the marks P or S in the file names.
Applicants must mark their submitted projects with the (group) name and/or the logo.
The designer or the group data must be reported in the online submission form to the Venice Design Week. Participants must sign the form to accept the call terms and send it writing the name or the logo and the category in the email subject.
Art. 9 Usage Rights
The copyright of the presented works are of their authors. With the submission, they authorize the Venice Design Week to use the material for online and on paper communication and exhibition divulgation.
Participants can protect their works in advance through deposits or patents.
Art. 10 Submission deadline
The submission to the competition can start from the date of call publication.
All materials must be sent by mail (via Jumbomail, Wetransfer, Dropbox) at email@example.com, from to be defined date to 18th July 2018 at 2 p.m. (CET).
The secretary will divide the projects by category (P or S).
Art. 11 Information and publishing
Venice Design Week is committed to present the initiative to the national press and to highlight the results through the most appropriate channels.
All the applicants authorize Venice Design Week to exhibit and divulge their projects if selected. They also authorize Venice Design Week to publish their projects in a catalogue and on the specialized press. They agree that Venice Design Week only obligation is to report their names. Applicants agree that all materials (text and images) may be freely modified according to the communication needs of the various instruments used and they also agree that Venice Design Week and Arte e Design Venezia are free from any liability for any violation of third party rights.
The applicants who have not won can decide to not publish their work. In this case they should communicate their decision to the secretary not later than 5 days from the announcement of the final results.
The publication of the results will occur within 60 days from the deadline. The winners will be informed by mail and phone, while other participants will see the results on the website.
