Munich, Germany

Ingo Maurer started to design exceptional lamps, lighting systems and objects beginning in the middle of the 1960s, which his company produces and distributes worldwide. The headquarters is in Munich; in 2005, Ingo Maurer and his team created a spacious showroom, the second after New York and the only one in Europe. Our project department has steadily evolved from the design of exhibitions at trade fairs, festivities and special installations of the lighting system YaYaHo. Ingo Maurer takes on commissions for lighting as well as interior light-planning. In addition to the sale of our regular products, the projects are now an important part of our activities. The challenges they pose have often been invigorating and inspiring, both through the people involved and the spaces that are to be designed. The projects permit Ingo Maurer to realize his ideas for artistic installation or lighting objects, providing at the same time intriguing and pleasant spaces for those who will live or work in them.

Ringelpiez

The existing floor lamp now also comes as a ceiling version with removable flexible paper shades as an add-on. The shade, in the form of a pleated skirt, works as an anti-glare shield and contrasts with the reduced form of the ring and the rod of the lamp itself. Without the shade, a bright halo seems to be hovering in the air. It is supported by a long slender black rod made of carbon fibre. The halo is made up of an aluminium ring with cleverly integrated LEDs, covered by a diffusor plate. The ring can be fixed both as uplight or downlight, and easily switched from one position to the other thanks to a smart, simple construction. The rod is extendable from 150 to 210 cm. The flat hemispherical base is made of a slightly rough grey material; vaguely reminiscent of the surface of an unknown moon. It has two openings to hold the rod, one for a vertical position and one for a slightly inclined position. The Ringelpiez fixture has no screws, the rod can be positioned perpendicularly or at an angle depending on the user’s needs. Ringelpiez is a fully functional and flexible floor/ceiling lamp. It is suitable for multiple applications, amongst others for use next to seating furniture or tables.
