Light enhances heritage, selection MAG

Venice Design Week is in MAG (Montreux Art Gallery) in Switzerland, the prestigious Salon of Contemporary Art on the banks of Lake Leman, with a number of visitors tripled over the years, from 9 to 13 November 2016.
Domenico De Rito project has been selected and is one of the studies invited to exhibit in Montreux. The project was presented in 2005, in the Call, “Cosenza Competition lives the Castle” organized by The International Association of Lions Clubs – District 108 YA Lions Club and sponsored by the city of Cosenza, awarded for the quality of the proposal. The design of the study De Rito, speaks of music and light, entitled “Jazz & Color.” Appreciation for the originality of the idea that aims to enrich “Bruzi City”, with a jazz and blues festivals, the light and the colors are in the proposal, the elements of attraction and enhancement of the architectural work, the possibilities offered by new lighting systems allow to obtain at affordable costs, scenographic effects of great impact and, above all, programmable in intensity and hue settings according to the needs which, in turn, may occur. A light that gently illuminates the Castello Svevo of Cosenza but, if necessary, the Castle is dressed in colored light to signal and communicate a particular time or event. The light, therefore, not only for the security of the citizens but also to raise public awareness, theme that the architect De Rito studied since 2005.

They are several studies and projects achievements, publics and privates treated at scales of intervention. He does research and studies the Culture of Light and during more conferences he argued on the topic. He elaborate the discipline of the light language as an integral part of the overall design process, aiming to protect the environment, the welfare of the people and the decrease of energy consumption, for a sustainable development. Since 2007 he examined visual disabilities for autonomy and equality of women and men, because the barriers are not just architectural. Over the years he has received several awards and prizes. Author of numerous publications.

The research activities of the studio based in Cosenza, composed by employees with different profiles and skills, ranging with the principles of sustainable design. Gained experience, ranging from urban and regional planning to architectural design, from product design to interior design and architecture exhibitions to meetings.
