Meeting with the Glass Artisans

Three glass artisans and artists are going to lead a guided tour inside their atelier and showrooms, showing off techniques and ways of working glass.

Amy West was born and raised in the midstern part of the US, and after a successful career in the international communication field she began a new life to pursue her passion for the Venetian glass art. She is a multifaceted artist, which uses glass art to experiment jewelry of any kind, vessels and engraving. Her vessels are characterized by the the technique of “murrine battuto”, a style of cold-working glass using diamond and stone wheels. On the other hand, her jewelry collection explores a wide range of styles.
Davide Fuin is a Murano Glass Master and his skills as an artisan include a broad spectrum of techniques such as reticello and retortoli filigree, incalmo and avventurina. He was born in Murano Island and he carries on living, showing is art there, he is considered one of the most skilled glass masters of the last 30 years.
Muriel Balensi creates her signature VENEZI’ARTE in 2007. She moved from Paris just the year before, but she met Venice as a tourist and she fell in love with the city leaving her past life behind consecrating herself to the glass art.
She exhibits her art around Venice since then, distinguish herself for adding a touch of contemporaneity to a traditional craftsmanship by using the oxygen in her production process.
Join the artists in this event dedicated to the glass mastery and its multiple shapes. 

For visitors arriving in Venice by train we planned a meeting point at 9 a.m. at Santa Lucia Train Station. The VDW Staff is going to guide you to Murano Island in order to be at the artists’ studio by 10 a.m.
