Venice Design Week this year will collaborate with ICI Venice, the Venice International Cultural Institute; although this cultural association was born in 2014, it plays an important role of bridge between East and West, between ethnographic and contemporary art which is centered around the heterogeneity of Venice. The creative work that this organization will propose us, is the brainchild of Charles Lemaire in collaboration with Fanette Pesch and Samuel Dutertre: A M O R.

Only on stage, the dancer Samuel Dutertre investigates and draws the transition from the world of the living to the dead. Samuel expresses by manipulating relics which, evoking the idea of the dream, create a striking passage from Angkor Wat temple to the deepest memories of the human soul. This is a complete art work, perfectly in line with the cultural activity of the Magazzino Del Caffé, which integrates design, Asia, ritual objects which interpret ethnographic art.
The planning of this work gives great importance to the elements of design, made of materials ranging from glass to fabric, in which different objects come together and take on a new tune. In fact, the young French designer in charge of the project, Fanette Pesch, who graduated with honors from the Ecole National de Création Industrielle ENSCI / Les Ateliers, won numerous design awards. She invited the famous craftsman-glazier Jean-Pierre Baquère (Grand Prix at the creation of the city of Paris, appointed Master of Arts from the Ministry of Culture) and the designer specialised in embroidery Célia Baeles (Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford) to work with her.
The end result is a union of dance and design, which will show a new aspect of the design. The effort is to make the mapping of a dream, in which the architecture of the temple of Angkor Wat slips into deeper soul; traces of the memory of a loved lost in the borders of this building. The dance has structured the space to new dimensions, where the world of the dead and the living become animate by supporting each other in the air. Initially gestures, rituals, anchor points with simple objects of reality: a table, a shirt, wooden sticks … And then the planning, the design, early forms of work between charm and nostalgia, from glass to fabric. At the heart of the movement, the design gives the objects the belonging to a true guide, where contents and forms are intertwined.

The performance will take place on Sunday the 4th October at 5.00 P.M. and at 7.00 P.M. at the headquarters of the Magazzini Del Caffé. From 4 to 11 October 2015 will be held, in addition, an exhibition titled “AMOR: un passo in Angkor Wat – Dalla danza al design” similar to the issue of representation itself.
