Simona Materi was born in 1971 in Caserta, she lives in Molise in Venafro (IS) where she also works. She participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, in important public and private contemporary art and jewelery sector’s institutions, organized by the AGC – Contemporary Jewelery Association. She partecipated also in exhibition on contemporary chalcography and other derivations since 2004. In 2017 she held a workshop on contemporary jewel with a project of art and territory at the Artistic High School Manuppella of Isernia. In 2016 she teached jewel design methodology in a jewel course at the Accademia Italiana, Art Fashion and Design of Rome, where she also holds a workshop on contemporary jewelery. In 2013, she teached some lessons about the processes of creating art’s works in the contemporary art segment alongside Jacqueline Ceresoli (critic, art historian and artistic director of TAM – Artistic Metals Treatment – High School of Arnaldo Pomodoro High School).

Absorption is a transparent plexiglass collar disc of 36cm. The image printed on it is a digital shot, part of a sequence of 144 images, made in 2016. The work represents figuratively, the absorption of the motion of the calm waters of the lake the movement towards another body as a result of prolonged visual contact.
